Charlotte Jeffes is an integral part of team Hardy Etc. Find out what makes her so special below…
Hi, Im Charlotte, I am 29 years old and have been riding for 28 and 1/2 years. I worked my way up through Pony Club and competed in the FEI Pony Eventing Classes on an amazing Pony called Gaelic Spirit, it is thanks to her that I am now hooked on eventing and have competed British Eventing every year since. I work full time for a healthcare company and compete as an amateur. I spend every spare minute outside of work training my three lovely horses
HOW MANY HORSES DO YOU OWN?
I currently have 3 horses: Jack 11 years old, Humphrey 5 years old and George 4 year old.
Finally I have George who has just turned 4yo. He is by Billy Congo and he is a bright little thoroughbred. He will be following in Humphreys footsteps and may get out to his first event before the end of the season.
Jack is my more experienced horse who I compete at Novice Level. He is an absolute gent and the horse I would trust to put anybody on. He would always look after me around the biggest of xc tracks. He does however like to bite you every morning on his way out to the field just to remind you who is boss.
Humphrey my 5yo is a horse I bought as a 3yo and backed myself. He is a Dutch bred Warmblood and has the best Show Jumping lines. I have slowly brought him on over the last year and he is now ready to go out and event this season. We are very excited about his future.
HOPES FOR 2017:
This year I am aiming to compete Jack in his first 1 star competition which i am dead excited about. Humphrey will be starting his eventing career and will hopefully aim to enter a BE 5yo class before the end of the season. It would also be really exciting to try and qualify for Badminton Grass roots. Geroge will be introduced slowly to his first few competitions at the first half of 2016 and will then hopefully aim to compete in a BE event before the end of the season.
FAVOURITE HARDY ETC PRODUCT:
My favourite Hardy Etc product is my XC colour set. It is so bright and colourful and I feel like I really stand out from the crowd. The tops are comfortable to wear and so so fun. I would not be without mine. I also love my Hardy Etc Gilet. I wear it everywhere and goes perfectly over my base layer when i get a bit chilly.
A FUNNY STORY ABOUT ME:
In 2015 I qualified for the Amateur Novice Championships at the Festival of British Eventing. We were getting on really well in the XC until we were held on course just before the water. Once we got going again Jack was a bit tentative into the water (where a crowd of spectators were waiting for the 3* to start) Jack did a very awkward jump in to the water leaving me clinging on around Jacks neck. I managed to cling onto until we reached dry land and then I just plopped onto the floor- not very spectacular at all (I did manage to make it onto the horse and hound website under thrills and spills) :S
